LEAP works with a range of education partners both nationally and internationally, which helps to facilitate peer learning among students and teachers, support dissemination of good practice in teaching and learning, and influence policy and decision-makers in education.

Connects innovators in education from a range of sectors and brings them together in communities of practice based on a series of themes. The communities aims to promote effective educational practice, maximize resources and reduce duplication, as well as impact positively on education policy. John Gilmour, Executive Director of LEAP is one of the founder members and the chair of Bridge.

Brings together a cross-section of senior leaders from politics, academia, business and civil society to strengthen active citizenry in South Africa.  LEAP works closely with Dr Mamphela Ramphele in building constructive citizen engagement in the education sector.

Supports the application of Information Communications Technology (ICT) into teaching and learning environments. Edunova has partnered with LEAP to support teachers to integrate technology in the classroom. LEAP and Edunova are working in partnership with Dr Ramphele’s Letsema Circle to develop a Learning Centre in Duncan Village in the Eastern Cape. The centre will enhance the teaching and learning capacity of adjacent schools in maths, science, technology, ICT and health and well-being.

Supports education entrepreneurs and school leaders from around the world that aim to establish high quality, low cost or free university preparatory schools in disadvantaged communities. LEAP was involved in the establishment of EdVillage and many of our principals have taken part in their school leadership education programmes.

Equal Education

Mobilises learners, parents, teachers and community members in a social movement working for quality and equality in South African education through research and activism. LEAP is working closely with Equal Education in their campaign for school libraries and is working with the Equal Education Bookery to put in place a library at the Litha Primary School in Gugulethu from which a number of LEAP learners are recruited.  www.equaleducation.org.za

South African Extraordinary Schools Coalition

Brings together likeminded and high-performing independent and public schools in South Africa to share lessons and good practice and advocate for a third tier of schools between the private and public sector which are state funded but retain autonomy over staffing and management choices.  www.bridge.org.za

Promotes equal access to quality education in South Africa through recruiting and training talented university graduates to teach in some of South Africa’s most disadvantaged schools. A number of Teach South Africa ambassadors have been employed at LEAP and some have taken up full time positions.

Empowers students and teachers by bringing experienced educators to Africa to teach and learn. Every year LEAP welcomes a group of Teach With Africa interns to work in each of its schools.

School Partners

Each LEAP school is linked to a privileged private partner school for the purpose of promoting integration across cultures and society; sharing science, sports and careers facilities; participating in joint social development work in our communities, as well as sharing teaching and learning practices.
