Fundraiser

LEAP seeks to appoint a fundraiser to be based in Cape Town

The purpose of the position to help secure ongoing funding and support to ensure the sustainability of LEAP into the future.                 

Reporting to: The Executive Director

Key Responsibility: To develop and implement strategies and action plans to increase the funding income of LEAP through a range of initiatives and through acquisition and retention of sponsors and supporters

Required:

  • Proven experience of setting, managing, and delivering on funding targets.
  • Substantial experience in fundraising and working in the NGO sector. Must have real passion for community development.
  • Skills in proposal writing, face-to face communication, and written report-writing communication.
  • Good knowledge of traditional and non-traditional fundraising models.
  • Proven experience of raising significant funds

ROLE DESCRIPTION FOR LEAP FUNDRAISER

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Secure private financial support from potential donors committed to the mission of LEAP.
  • Position LEAP as an expert organisation resulting in recognition of our services, teaching and learning.
  • Communicate key messages to all affected and interested stakeholders by telling honest and authentic stories about the impact and successes of our work.
  • Coordinate the online presence of LEAP on all relevant social media platforms.
  • Work within the LEAP Business Development Unit, creating synergy with the Finance Team

ADVANTAGES:

  • Experience in working with; and develop a strategy for Alumni relations building and giving
  •  Helping to raise fundraising targets in excess of R20 million

Fundraising Cultivate existing and new relationships with local and international donors Reactivate lapsed donorsOversee the fundraising governance and fundraising readiness of priority projects for possible donor support; Secure major donations through leveraging BBBEE opportunities available to LEAPManage a small team of fundraisers Diversified sources of incomeCustomized proposals based on corporate need, LEAP interest and different positions developed Strategic partnerships with major corporations implementedStewardship plans for current donors Donor gifts are used accordinglyDonor data are managed and analysed and trends provided
Prospect Research Provide quality Prospect research, data and data analysis services to enable support for LEAP’s fundraising goals  Keep abreast of current news and industry trends through the regular scanning of media sources Validate and amend donor information on the Donor Management System (DevMan) A well-defined Prospect management system is in placeProspects are pro-actively identified Detailed research profiles and background briefs provided in support of donor meetingsAll donor interactions and donations logged on DevMan
